At Lakeshore Roofing & Eavestroughing we install only metal valleys on our roofing projects. The "valley" is the section of the roof where two slopes meet. Largely found in the Burlington and Oakville areas, are valleys installed with a roll roofing material. In time, the roll roofing will fail, shortening the useful life of your shingled roof from 20 yrs. to 10. This poses the question, why would a contractor choose to install a roll roofing product in the roof valley? The answer, unfortunately, is to save costs in the new construction industry. Customers have often asked us, what are the savings by choosing one material over another? Although the savings would only add up to a few dollars per home, contractors in the new construction industry will often be chosen to shingle entire surveys. The use of this material can save the contractor hundreds of dollars by the end of the contract. Lakeshore Roofing attaches a ten-year warranty to the workmanship on our roofing contracts, compared to the two-year warranty found in the new construction industry. The installation of both 36" ice & water shield completely covering the exposed valley area, and the use of 24" pre-painted metal valley flashings, insures that our metal valley will outlast the asphalt shingles on your roof. Our metal valleys are left exposed so to allow for speedy run-off of water. |
